Policy Practice Areas
Since 2006, we have developed expertise across a broad range of policy areas.
-
Agriculture and Animal Welfare
Our team navigates the intersection of policy and agribusiness. We work with our clients and stakeholders to shape policies that support the agricultural community and address environmental concerns, ensuring a balanced, reasonable approach to food production and conservation efforts. We also advocate for sustainable farming practices, animal welfare, and rural development. We work regularly with federal agencies such as the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) the Office of Rural Development, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. On the Hill, we engage with the Agriculture committees in both chambers, House Energy and Commerce Committee, House Natural Resources Committee, and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
-
Arts, Humanities, and Library Sciences
Normandy engages directly in crafting policies that support arts, humanities, and library sciences. We feel deeply that access to cultural resources, artistic expression, and education resources serve not only as the foundation for our democracy, but as the basis for personal enrichment, growth, understanding, and achievement. To this end, we interface regularly with the National Endowment for the Humanities and Arts (NEH and NEA), the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Education Department. Our Hill contacts cross the full breadth of the committees of jurisdiction, including House Education and Workforce Committee, Senate HELP Committee, and the America 250 Caucus.
-
Aviation
The National Airspace System (NAS) is intricate, complex, and constantly changing. Our team works with the FAA, municipal governments, and corporate stakeholders to ensure the continued safe and efficient operations for the American flying public, drone operators, and commercial space explorers. Normandy Managing Partner Ron Eritano leverages his dual role as the Executive Director of the FAA Managers Association to directly influence policy related to supervisor staffing, employee benefits, and aviation infrastructure and technology. To this end, we meet regularly with the committee staff and personal offices of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, as well as the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
-
Economic and Workforce Development
The American dream is possible only with the adoption of policies that promote economic and workforce development. Normandy understands that. We specialize in identifying opportunities and crafting policies that foster workforce development, job reskilling, entrepreneurship, and innovation. To this end, we work closely with the Regional Offices of the Economic Development Administration, the Small Business Administration, and the Departments of Commerce, Labor, and Education.
-
Federal Contracting and Regulatory Support
The federal contracting space is a crowded one that requires a deft hand to guide small, medium, and large government contractors through this complex process. Normandy utilizes its relationships in Congress and understanding of the federal contracting landscape to position our clients favorably in this arena.
-
Gaming
In the dynamic landscape of gaming policy, we advocate for fair regulations that balance industry growth with consumer protection. Our bipartisan approach seeks to create an environment that fosters innovation, competition, and responsible gaming practices, promoting a vibrant but ethical gaming industry. We work with the National Indian Gaming Commission, state gaming commissions, and the American Gaming Association on these efforts.
-
Healthcare and Social Services
Accessing affordable, quality healthcare is challenging, especially for marginalized communities in rural or economically-distressed areas. Individuals with unique circumstances, such as those experiencing language barriers or victims of crime, face especially daunting obstacles to access and continuity of care. Our team advocates to expand the social safety net so that no one is forced to decide between groceries and their medicine. We work with anti-human trafficking organizations dedicated to fighting for enhanced services and compensation, and speak for those who are silenced and looking for hope.
-
Higher Education
The American dream is possible only with the adoption of policies that promote economic and workforce development. Normandy understands that. We specialize in identifying opportunities and crafting policies that foster workforce development, job reskilling, entrepreneurship, and innovation. To this end, we work closely with the Regional Offices of the Economic Development Administration, the Small Business Administration, and the Departments of Commerce, Labor, and Education.
-
Military Families and Veterans
Our team is strongly committed to those who serve and the families that support them. We work with military and veteran associations to address critical gaps and inefficiencies in child care, healthcare, employment, and education opportunities faced by active and retired military personnel and their families. To be effective, we frequently interface with committee staff and members on the House and Senate Armed Services committees. We coordinate with the Defense Department, Veterans Affairs, and relevant sub agencies and bureaus as needs arise.
-
State and Local Government
Success in Washington is often dictated by the strength of your partnerships, the level of cooperation between like-minded groups, and persistent engagement. Normandy works closely with our county and municipal government clients to forge effective working relationships with federal agencies, Congress and state government agencies to help support initiatives back home. This includes frequently engaging with a broad spectrum of federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Justice, and many others.
-
Technology/Intellectual Property
With an ever-changing landscape of how technology impacts society, the federal legislative and regulatory community often struggle to keep pace. Normandy helps its various technology-focused clients navigate this rapidly-changing environment by utilizing its relationships in Congress and with various federal agencies. During his time both on and off Capitol Hill, Normandy Managing Partner Ron Eritano has served in the role of technology policy advisor with specific expertise working in the privacy, intellectual property, intermediary liability, and cyber security policy practice areas.
